About WoWFest2020

Dear Supporters,

Due to safety concerns and travel restrictions brought on by the Coronavirus, our 20th anniversary festival in May 2020 will not go ahead. As hard as it has been to take this decision, and as disappointed as the WoW team are to have to cancel a host of events featuring such brilliant guests as those already announced - Art SpiegelmanAndrea GibsonA.L Kennedy and the writers from Dialogue Books, including Okechukwu Nzelu & Irenosen Okojie, we do not want our staff, volunteers, venues, festival guests and audiences exposed to an increased risk of the Coronavirus during the festival.  As we cannot predict how long this situation will last, we are unable to simply postpone the festival, and so we hope to bring some of these guests along for Black History Month in October. A special thanks to all our funders who are supporting us and have been understanding during this time.

This year’s WoWFest would have been our 21st annual festival, but we look forward to hosting that next year when we will be Celebrating 21 Years of Radical Writing.

Tickets will be refunded (please contact venues/ticket agents).

Thanks again to all our staff who worked so hard towards the festival this year, and to all our friends for your ongoing support and understanding.

Writing on the Wall are keen to promote and to be involved in initiatives to support vulnerable people of all ages affected by the Coronavirus. If you know of anyone isolated or ill, please do what you can to help out. If you feel they need further support, or if you know of someone not getting support, please let us know and we will work with our networks to see how we can help.

We are also inviting our customers to consider donating the value of purchased tickets to Writing on the Wall to ensure that we can come back fighting fit once the crisis is over.

Please stay as safe as you can, keep an eye on those in need around you, and look out for one another.

This is a difficult time for all organisations, but we intend to be back as soon as possible to continue delivering our projects as soon as possible. If you would like to support Writing on the Wall please click here
