Chris Riddell: The Waterstones Children’s Laureate at Central Library
Wednesday 24th May
Primary school students from across Merseyside will come together for an afternoon of sketching, storytelling and celebration in Central Library. Children’s Laureate Chris Riddell will give an illustrated talk on what it's like being the ‘Children’s Laundrette’ and let these little Liverpudlians know just why he loves libraries so much!
Chris Riddell is the current Children’s Laureate, and a passionate holder of that title in defence and advocacy of children’s literature and literacy. His books for children have been met with great success, winning a number of major prizes, including the 2001, 2004 and 2016 CILIP Kate Greenaway Medals. Goth Girl and the Ghost of a Mouse won the Costa Children's Book Award 2013. His previous work includes the bestselling Ottoline books, The Emperor of Absurdia, and, with Paul Stewart, the Muddle Earth books, the Scavenger series and The Edge Chronicles.
