Clear Lines Festival celebrates the role of creativity and the arts in fostering community and recovery from sexual violence. In 2015, it was the UK’s first-ever festival dedicated to addressing sexual assault and consent through the arts and discussion. We are thrilled to host the first Clear Lines event outside of London.

Join Winnie M Li, Dark Chapter (Legend Press) and Claire Shaw, Flood (2018) from the Clear Lines Festival, whose work, drawn from their own experiences, addresses sexual violence and consent, using poetry, fiction, and memoirs to capture the human truths behind trauma, and challenge the injustice of gender-based violence.
Join us for a lively, honest discussion. What ethical considerations must a survivor/writer take on board when addressing this subject matter? Is creating literature from trauma triggering or healing? What challenges do we face from the publishing industry?

A collaboration with the Clear Lines Festival.

We are grateful to the Royal Society of Literature for supporting this project through the Literature Matters Awards.
