La Violette Società presents ROY, NATHAN O’HAGAN, LOUISE FAZACKERLEY & TORIA GARBUTT.

Violette Records, launched in 2013 by Michael Head (The Red Elastic Band) and friends, has won acclaim for their democratic ethos & eclectic mix of high-quality music and spoken word artists. Book early, these tickets fly out!

Roy wanders his world and reluctantly engages with people that nobody else wants to connect with. He survives on Earl Grey, French Cheese and Iranian Drugs. He believes fiction is the lie through which we tell the truth. It’s dark, it’s funny and it’s scummy. Names have been changed to protect the guilty.

Nathan O’Hagan is the author of novels The World Is (Not) A Cold Dead Place (Armley Press, 2015) and Out Of The City (Arley Press, 2017) and two self-published short story collections Purge (2013) and Everything Falls Apart (2018). He is also co-founder of the independent publisher Obliterati Press. Originally from Merseyside, he now lives in the East Midlands with his wife and two children and works full time for the NHS.

Louise Fazackerley, fresh from supporting punk legend Dr. John Cooper Clark.  A bombshell word-witch, making the ugly beautiful, expect odd socks, hand-me-down dads and Afghanistan.  As seen, heard and read on BBC 1, BBC Radio 3, 4, 5 and The Guardian Northerner.

Toria Garbutt's unique blend of pure punk heritage and unapologetic spoken word confessions make her one of the most vital and visceral voices in the country.
Hailing from a former mining town in West Yorkshire, Toria Garbutt burst onto the scene through in summer 2014. In 2015 she featured on the 'Ossett Observer Presents: The People's Republic of Poetry' tour, and appeared at that summer's Latitude Festival.

“Toria's words are silk javelins. Frank explorations of self, outpourings of a joyfully pained mind. She means it. Cos she's lived it. I love that girl.” – Mike Garry.

"THE LYRICAL MACHINE GUN. PUNK IN ITS PUREST FORM.” – Matt Abbott.

2016 saw the career of Toria Garbutt go from strength to strength, with the release of début album 'Hot Plastic Moon' via Nymphs & Thugs in May.
As of early 2017, Toria is one of the regular tour supports for Dr John Cooper Clarke. 2018 saw the release of her début collection 'The Universe and Me' via Wrecking Ball Press, as well as her words featured in the Not Too Tame's Northern Souls show at Edinburgh Fringe.
