Black History Month 2019 - WoW - Liverpool

black history month at wow 2019

The month started off with an incredible poem by Amina Atiq, commissioned by WoW, it was launched on 2nd October 2019. Shamin on the Train was a response to a racial attack that Amina had experienced on a train that reached national headlines.

We also had Gary Younge, the Guardian's Editor at Large, discuss the nature of riots.

In June 1919 Race Riots exploded on Liverpool’s streets resulting in the murder of young black Seafarer, Charles Wotten. On 26th and 27th October, audiences joined a moving, animated walking tour with augmented reality from First Take and performances from Tmesis Theatre.
